ACU Professor Steven Moore Guest Speaker for AAC Meeting
Dr. Steven Moore, an ACU English professor and prolific writer, will be guest speaker for the Wednesday, Aug. 27, meeting of the Abilene Association of Congregations.
The meeting, which is open to the public, begins with lunch at 11:45 a.m., at Wylie Christian Church, 6250 Buffalo Gap Road. Suggested lunch donation is $3. (Moore also will speak at the Grace Museum on Sept. 4. Click here for details.)

Dr. Steven Moore
Moore’s first book of poetry, The Horizon Never Forgets, was published earlier this year, and a book signing and reading was held at Seven and One Books in March. He also has written two children’s books based on a character named Theodore Thumbs who is bullied in school. The title of his book of poetry, The Horizon Never Forgets, is drawn from a poem he wrote titled, “Ahmaud Arbery: Trial Verdict Just Announced.” The poem was in response to the conviction of three men in the February 2020 murder of Ahmaud Arbery, an unarmed 25-year-old black man jogging in Satilla Shores near Brunswick in Glynn County, Georgia. The poem first appeared in Spirit of Abilene in April 2022.

I am looking forward to hearing from Dr. Moore on the 27th. I just went back and read the poem about Ahmaud Arbery–very moving and sad. I followed that news story from start to finish.
