Sixth Annual ‘Neighbor’ Event

Christian Service Center will host its sixth annual Be a Good Neighbor event on Thursday, Oct. 8, at the center, 3185 North 10th St. Hours are 8:3 a.m. to noon.

Purpose of the event is to help people discover resources that can change their lives, with more than 45 area agencies providing information about various services, including job-seeker assistance, rent assistance, health information, housing assistance, free legal aid, Medicaid info, disability resources, adult education, addiction resources, and many other personal and family services.

A Christian Service Center news release says the following:

“Be A Good Neighbor has grown tremendously since its beginning in 2020. In the first five years, BaGN has assisted more than 1,300 people. Last year, 405 neighbors came for assistance. And this year’s event is expected to draw a record crowd of 450-500 or more.”

The first 500 guests attending on Oct. 8 will receive $25 grocery or gas gift cards or six bus passes. There will also be six drawings for $100 gift cards to Walmart or United Supermarkets.

“Members of the public are invited to come and bless our neighbors,” said Merlin Mann, Event Coordinator. “We would love for community members to bring people who need assistance. This will be a very special day for many of them.”
