HSU Announces Theater Productions
Hardin-Simmons University has announced its theater lineup for the 2026-2027 academic year, leading off with Wait Until Dark, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Sept. 24-26 and 2 p.m. Sept. 27. Performances will be in the Down Centre Stage Lab Theater.
“Our 2026–2027 season celebrates the enduring legacy of storytelling,” said Dr. Victoria Spangler, Associate Professor of Theatre in the College of Arts and Media. “We look forward to sharing our season with you, as you become part of our story.”
A highlight of the season will be 1776, the Musical, which is especially timely thenation celebrates its 250th birthday. Productions will be Nov. 19-22. Call the box office for tickets at 325-670-1405. or click here for online purchase.

Wait Until Dark

A suspenseful thriller about Susy Hendrix, a blind woman who becomes the target of ruthless criminals searching for a valuable doll hidden in her apartment. Directed by BFA Theatre Ed senior, Mackenzie Marshall. Best suited for ages 12 and up. LIMITED SEATING!
Pops at the Pond October 2, 6:00 P.M. Anderson Lawn

Daisy Pulls It Off

When Daisy Meredith, a bright scholarship student from a modest background, arrives at an elite girls’ boarding school, she finds herself battling prejudice, forging unlikely friendships, and uncovering clues to a long-lost treasure hidden on campus. Directed by Dr. Victoria Spangler.

Big Fish

Big Fish is a heartfelt and imaginative musical celebration of family, legacy, and the power of storytelling. Stage direction by Dr. Victoria Spangler; Music direction by Dr. Robert Brooks.
24 Hour Shakespeare
March 20 at 7:00 P.M. Van Ellis Theatre
Students rehearse and stage an abridged Shakespeare play in just 24 hours. Title announced the night before. Fundraiser for the HSU Theatre Travel fundraiser for our HSU Theatre Travel Fund.
PLAYFEST
April 2 and 3 at 7:30 P.M. Down Centre Stage Theatre
We are introducing a new initiative in our theatre season called Playfest, a showcase of three original short plays written by our students. These works will be presented as staged readings, followed by a talkback with the audience. LIMITED SEATING
DirectFest Spring ’27
April 23- 24 at 7:30 P.M. Van Ellis Theatre
The Spring Directing I class is given the opportunity to produce and direct their own 15-minute shows.
