Christian Service Center, 3185 N. Tenth St., continues to serve during this time of social distancing and sheltering in place. The center’s director, Jim Clark, announced the following changes in an email.

CSC is providing basic needs on:
Monday, Wednesday and Friday
9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m.

“We ask our neighbors to call and place their food orders or emergency clothing requests over the phone. To pick up their food, they can drive to the south side of our building, ring the door bell at our Food Pantry, then wait in their car while CSC volunteers load the groceries into the vehicle. If they need clothing, our volunteers in the clothing room make selections based on our neighbors’ specifications, then deliver the clothing through the exit on the west side of our facility to our neighbors as they wait in their cars.

CSC is providing rental assistance for our neighbors on:
Tuesday and Thursday
9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m.

“As a result of Covid-19 many businesses closed, reducing or eliminating income for families who are affected by the closures or lay offs. To help these families, the United Way of Abilene partnered with the Christian Service Center to provide money for Rent Assistance. The City of Abilene generously loaned several employees to volunteer at CSC to interview and disperse money from the United Way grant to those in need of assistance because of this economic/health crisis.”
