2 TIMOTHY TOPIC OF ACU LECTURE
Dr. Christopher R. Hutson, a gifted speaker and professor, will be guest speaker for a special presentation Feb. 4 at Abilene Christian University.
Hutson is a professor of Bible, missions, and ministry at ACU and is associate dean for academic programs and services in ACU’s College of Biblical Studies.
Hutson will speak at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 4 in the Packer Forum of the Brown Library at ACU. The talk is free and the public is invited. The presentation is hosted by ACU’s Center for the Study of Ancient Religious Texts. A reception will follow.
Hutson will discuss a commentary he recently published titled, “First and Second Timothy and Titus.” The commentary was published in the Paideia series by BakerAcademic. The lecture will be based on 2 Timothy 1, focusing on the “spirit of timidity” and the spirits of “power and love and temperance.”
“Dr. Hutson will set the passage in its ancient rhetorical context,” a promotional piece states, “helping us to acquire traditional Christian vocabulary about spiritual warfare and to think more robustly about the Holy Spirit in the life of the church today.”
