WYLIE BAPTIST: ‘MY EASTER STORY’

Four main characters, a full choir, praise team and some instrumentation will be featured in “My Easter Story,” during the 10:30 a.m. service April 14 at Wylie Baptist Church, 6097 Buffalo Gap Road.
“It basically will be the morning worship service,” said Rick Grant, associate pastor of music.
The four characters and the people portraying them are the woman at the well, Kennah Grant; the blind man, Mike Farmer; Peter, Philip Jorgensen; and Mary, the mother of Jesus, Bianca Jorgensen.
The program will consist of music and dramatic readings by the four main characters, who will be in costume. Wylie Baptist is best known for its annual Living Christmas Tree, with the choir perched in tiers of the tree. Whether an Easter production is staged depends on how early Easter comes, Grant said. If it’s too early, church members wouldn’t have time to prepare after the Christmas production.
But this year, with Easter falling on April 21, the timing was right. Grant said as soon as he heard a recording of “My Easter Story,” he knew he wanted to do it.
“When I listened to it,” he said, “the music touched me deeply.”
