Scherr Piece Premieres at Heavenly Rest Concert
A world premiere by Dr. Bernard Scherr, professor of music theory and composition at Hardin-Simmons University, will be part of a concert on Sunday, April 11, at the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest.
The church’s Chamber Music Concert Series begins at 5 p.m. and is free to the public. Sunday’s concert, “Baroque ‘N’ Modern,” will feature Dr. David Amlung, trumpet, with Marc Sanders on piano and Dr. Juan Mendoza on the marimba.
The concert includes works by Baroque masters Martini and Purcell, Scherr’s world premiere, and an arrangement of “Manuel de Falla” by Amlung and Mendoza. The eclectic music combination spans four centuries. Masks and social distancing are required. The concert will also be live-streamed on the Heavenly Rest’s Facebook page.
