Thankful for Whatever-O’s
By Glenn Dromgoole
I know we’re supposed to be thankful for not just the big things in life – family, friends, freedom, faith, etc. – but also for the little, everyday things as well.
So, today, I’m thankful for Cheerios, as well as the generic store brands that go by various names — Toasted O’s, Toasted Oats, even Happy-O’s.
I not only enjoy, but actually look forward to, a bowl of O’s every morning with the fruit of the day – blueberries, strawberries, bananas – immersed in 2 percent milk. It’s a refreshing, and I think rather healthy, way to start the day.
Our church food pantry put out the word recently that it was in need of cereal, so I stopped by the grocery store and found its generic O’s on sale for less than $2 a box. I loaded up my cart and took all but one of the boxes to the food pantry.
The other box? Well, you know… I just wanted to make sure those generic O’s were really fresh and tasty.
They were.
