Paramount’s George Levesque Guest Speaker at AAC Meeting

George Levesque, executive director of the Paramount Theater, will be guest speaker at the May 27 meeting of the Abilene Association of Congregations.

This will be one of Levesque’s last public presentations before he and his family move to Tampa, Florida, where Levesque will become president and CEO of the Tampa Theater. 

The public is invited to the luncheon meeting at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, at First Central Presbyterian Church, 400 Orange St. A $3 donation is suggested for lunch. The program is free.

Levesque was named executive director of the Paramount in 2018. Before that, he was already well known in Abilene as a news anchor at KTXS-TV and for his roles in dozens of plays and musicals, including many on the Paramount stage. He’s a 1996 graduate of McMurry University, where he was a theater major, with a minor in political science.

Besides his work at the Paramount, Levesque has been deeply involved with McMurry and the city. He has served on the McMurry University Board of Visitors, Abilene Zoological Society Board, Youth Voice Board, Abilene Convention and Visitors Bureau Board, CALF Festival reader, and is a 2020 graduate of Leadership Abilene. His wife, Sidney Levesque, is director of marketing for the Abilene Cultural Affairs Council. 

Levesque is the recipient of the 2023 Outstanding Individual Contribution Award from the League of Historic American Theatres and was named the 2024 Outstanding Alumnus in Fine Arts at McMurry.
