About

Spirit of Abilene is an online faith forum where ideas, stories, thoughts, and opinions can be shared. The site was created in 2017 by Loretta Fulton, a veteran journalist, who began writing about religion and spirituality issues in 1997 while still on staff at the Abilene Reporter-News. Fulton, a graduate of the University of Texas with a degree in journalism, started her career in 1969 at the Reporter-News. She took an early retirement in 2007 and has been a freelance writer since then. She is a member of Religion Newswriters Association and has won awards from the journalism organization for her work. Fulton also has been honored by the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors Association, the Headliners Club of Austin, and the Baptist General Convention of Texas. Fulton lives in Abilene and is active at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. Submissions to spiritofabilene.com are welcomed from all faith traditions. All opinions expressed on spiritofabilene.com are those of the contributor and not of the website or its owner.
