‘Life Lessons for Littles’ New Book by Janice Six
Abilene author and retired minister Janice Six has written a book for parents, grandparents, and other adult caregivers to read and discuss with young children ages 4-10.
Life Lessons for Littles suggests 26 spiritual values that children need to understand early in life ($16.99 paperback, photos by Julia Six Aldriedge).
A few examples: Compassion, forgiveness, generosity, gratitude, honesty, hospitality, kindness, loving others, patience, respect for creation, and trust in God.
Each lesson is illustrated by a story or two written in easy-to-read verse intended to be shared aloud with children, accompanied by several follow-up discussion questions – or ”sparks” – a Bible verse, and a simple prayer.
“It is my hope,” Six writes, “that Life Lessons for Littles will provide an opportunityfor meaningful conversations and teachable moments between those whose influence is great in young lives and the Littles in their care.”

The Rev. Dr. Six, a retired Presbyterian minister and a grandmother, will sign books at Texas Star Trading Company, 174 Cypress Street in downtown Abilene, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, June 14, during the Children’s Art and Literacy Festival.
