Historic Black Associations Meeting in Abilene

The Progressive West Texas Missionary Baptist Association and the 83rd Congress will be hosted by Macedonia Baptist Church June 16-19. By LORETTA FULTON Rev. Demotis Sherman, Jr., pastor of Abilene’s historic Mt. Zion Baptist Church, is the new moderator of the Original West Texas Baptist District Association, Inc. He was elected Friday, June 30, to replace Rev. Andrew Penns, longtime moderator and pastor of Abilene’s Valley View Missionary Baptist Church.
