Scout Values
By Glenn Dromgoole
I learned the Scout Law as a Boy Scout many years ago in Sour Lake, Texas. I can’t say that I’ve always lived up to those ethical principles, but they certainly abide as something to strive for.
A Scout is:
Trustworthy
Loyal
Helpful
Friendly
Courteous
Kind
Obedient
Cheerful
Thrifty
Brave
Clean
Reverent
At a recent Scouting event, everyone in the room stood and repeated the Scout Law.
As I was driving home, I pondered those 12 positive values – and then a thought struck me: How many of them do you think are exemplified by the current leader of the free world?
Just asking.
Oh, by the way, in Sour Lake we quietly (under our breath) added a 13th word to the Scout Law, characteristic of most Boy Scouts.
Hungry.
