Feaste of the Twelfth Night
“Come one, Come all” to the Feaste of the Twelfth Night, with a worship service, singing, and dinner.
Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 5 at the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest, 602 Meander St. The service of the Eve of the Epiphany will begin with Holy Eucharist at 5:30 in the nave. Following the service, a piper will lead the congregation to Gerhart Hall for singing, dinner, and “chalking of the doors,” an ancient tradition that involves marking doors, symbolizing Christ’s blessing.
“Twelfth Night” refers to the 12 days of Christmas, which in some Christian traditions, begins on Christmas day.
The public is invited to the service and festivities that follow. Tickets for the dinner are $12 for adults and $3 for children. Childcare for children under 5 years will be provided. Registration is required by Wednesday, Dec. 31.
