It’s Homecoming Time!

All three of Abilene’s universities have homecoming scheduled within the next few weeks, including one starting this weekend.

Hardin-Simmons University
HSU kicks off local homecomings on Thursday, Oct. 2, with the alumni awards banquet at 6:30 p.m. in the Johnson Building. The 2025 recipients of the Keeter Alumni Service Award and the Distinguished Alumni Awards will be recognized. 

Today, Sept. 30, is the last day to register online. Sing tickets may also be purchased at the door 30 minutes prior to show time. You will be able to purchase tickets for most events on-site during the following days and times: Friday, Oct. 3, 1-7 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 4, 7:30 a.m.-12 noon

McMurry University
Next up is McMurry University Oct. 9-12. A family-friendly Festival on the Quad, Coronation, a pep rally and bonfire, and a fireworks show above Radford Auditorium highlight events on Friday, Oct. 10.

On Oct. 10 and 11, McMurry Theatre will host “Legacy in the Limelight,” featuring theatre alumni and current students in a collection of songs & stories. Anyone interested in participating, should contact Neena McLain at mclain.neena@mcm.edu. The money raised at this event will go toward a new lightboard and equipment for Ryan Little Theatre.

Abilene Christian University
Registration is open for ACU’s homecoming, which will be held Oct. 30-Nov. 2. Events get under way on Thursday, Oct. 30, with the 33rd annual Gutenberg Celebration at 201 Mesquite Event Center. 

A homecoming parade will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, on E.N. 16th St. Several events are scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 2, to close out homecoming, including a performance of “Shrek the Musical” at 2 p.m. in the Boone Family Theatre. Click here for tickets.
