Moore, who published his first book of poetry in March, will share some of his original poems as well as poetry and reflections that relate to the museum’s current main gallery exhibition, “The Great Turning: We Gather, We Grow, We Tend.” The exhibition, which runs through Sept. 20, was created by artist Hollis Hammonds and poet Sasha West.

Moore is an English professor at Abilene Christian University and also conducts poetry workshops. His first book of poetry, The Horizon Never Forgets, was published earlier this year, and a book signing and reading was held at Seven and One Books in March. He also has written two children’s books based on a character named Theodore Thumbs, who is bullied in school.

The title of his book of poetry, The Horizon Never Forgets, is drawn from a poem he wrote titled, Ahmaud Arbery: Trial Verdict Just Announced. The poem was in response to the conviction of three men in the February 2020 murder of Ahmaud Arbery, an unarmed 25-year-old black man jogging in Satilla Shores near Brunswick in Glynn County, Georgia.
