$25 for a Good Cause

By Glenn Dromgoole

For eight years, my friend and journalistic colleague Loretta Fulton has produced, at her own expense, the website, Spirit of Abilene. It’s a wonderful community service, offering news, views, and information related to the spiritual side of the community.

I find that I spend more time reading Spirit every week than any other news site I have access to (well, maybe with the possible exception of ESPN.com)! I look forward to seeing it in my in-box every Tuesday and can’t wait to read several uplifting commentaries as well as the local church news items and selective Religious News Service national stories.

Spirit not only provides an update on what’s happening in the religious community in Abilene, it also offers a few highlights of activity at  the four area church-affiliated universities – ACU, McMurry, Hardin-Simmons, Howard Payne.

You don’t find any of this news in what-passes-for the local newspaper or anywhere else. That’s why I say Spirit of Abilene is a great community service.

Loretta has done this on her own dime for eight years. Now, those of us who enjoy Spirit have an opportunity to be partners, or supporters, in this very worthwhile enterprise. You can be listed as a supporter of Spirit of Abilene for just $25 a year – as an individual, as a couple, as a family, as a church or university or non-profit or business.

$25 a year for a very good cause.

We can support Spirit in two ways: by becoming a supporter, and by passing the word to friends about this extraordinary news site. Just tell them to click on spiritofabilene.com and see for themselves.

Thanks Loretta.

Glenn Dromgoole and his wife Carol own Texas Star Trading Company in downtown Abilene and are supporters of Spirit of Abilene.

I agree completely agree. Loretta has filled in the gap created when the local newspaper canceled her religion column. Spirit of Abilene provides Abilenians with all the spiritual news in the community. We should support her efforts by becoming sponsors of this blog.
