Grace Exhibit Honors Holocaust Remembrance Day

A Holocaust remembrance exhibit is on display at the Grace Museum through Jan. 31.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day takes place each year on January 27th, the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp.

For the past few years, the Grace Museum has collaborated with Abilene Christian University’s Introduction to Public History: Interpreting American Pasts course to create monthly exhibitions that coincide with different cultural heritage months throughout the year. This will be the last year for the Cultural Heritage Exhibitions at the Grace Museum.

The following explanation of International Holocaust Remembrance Day is from the Grace website:

“This date invites all UN member states — and all people worldwide — to remember and honor the victims of the Holocaust. This exhibition highlights the history of the Holocaust, displacement and mass murder of Jewish people, the role Texans played as liberators, and the history of Abilene’s Jewish community.”

Thank you, Loretta, for your diligence in keeping us informed about spiritual news in Abilene. I plan to go through this exhibit.
