Carmichael-Walling Lectures at ACU

The public is invited, either in person or online, to the Carmichael-Walling Lectures at Abilene Christian University Thursday, Nov. 7.

The annual lectures are hosted by ACU’s Center for the Study of Ancient Religious Texts. Dr. Te-Li Lau of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School will give the 2024 lectures on the theme Spiritual Emotions.

4 p.m.–Listening to Pauline Shame
7 p.m.–Emotions and Spiritual Formation

In this lecture series, Lau will briefly probe the role of emotions in our spiritual formation. First, he will discuss the role that one specific emotion (shame) plays in Pauline ethics. Second, he will provide a foundational overview of the role of emotions in our spiritual formation.

Lectures are free and open to the public and will take place in Room 114 in the Onstead-Packer Biblical Studies Building on ACU’s campus.
