Dr. Candice Ortbals, professor of political science at Abilene Christian University, will be guest speaker for the Oct. 23 meeting of the Abilene Association of Congregations.

The public is invited to hear Ortbals reflect on the ways that politics can impact religious communities. 

The meeting begins with lunch at 11:45 a.m. at Highland Church of Christ, 425 Highland Ave. A $3 donation is requested for lunch. 

Ortbals earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Harding University and master’s and doctoral degrees in political science from the University of Indiana.
