Registration Opens for ACU Summit
Registration opened Monday, Aug. 5, for Summit, Abilene Christian University’s annual gathering that focuses on small group discussion, guest speakers, worship, and fellowship.
Summit dates are Oct. 16-18. Theme is Woven Together: The Power of Biblical Narratives, which came as a result of brainstorming by Summit leaders, including Jennifer Schroeder, director. Click here for registration link.
“As this group pored over Scripture and listened to the leading of the Spirit, we saw that God was challenging us to reflect on what it means to be inextricably linked as a community of Christ-followers, even in these incredibly difficult times, and how the narrative of Scripture speaks to this collective experience time and time again,” Schroeder said. A highlight of Summit will come on Thursday evening, Oct. 17, when guests will gather at the 201 Mesquite Event Center to hear guest speaker Anna Carter Florence, the Peter Marshall Professor of
Preaching at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia.
Florence, an ordained Presbyterian Church (USA) minister, will also be in Abilene in September. She will be the featured speaker for the Festival of Faith at First Central Presbyterian Church. Title of her Summit presentation on Oct. 17 is Wisdom for the Church from the Women of Jesus’s Genealogy.
Florence holds degrees from Yale University (B.A.) and Princeton Theological Seminary (M.Div. and Ph.D.). Her research focuses on testimony, preaching pedagogies, and creative strategies for communities to engage and encounter the biblical text for our present context.
