How could I have forgotten to include this gem in my latest book, Life Lessons for Littles?
I had this quote posted above the doorway of my classroom for years and I continue to believe it to be true, even though there is no proof that these words were ever spoken or written by Roosevelt. Surely Roosevelt would not be offended by having them attributed to him. 
There are plenty of wise words I could have included in Life Lessons for Littles but I chose to write  my own—in rhyme.
Based on scripture, I came up with 26 life lessons the child in each of us never outgrows but may need to be reminded of from time to time. So while Life Lessons for Littles was written with children in mind, I hope that the adults who share them will also benefit.
Each Life Lesson is accompanied by a couple of “sparks” or conversation starters, followed by a brief prayer, because no matter how true or wise my words may be, none will stick with a child as much as what you have to say about them. Why? Because as Roosevelt noted, you care.
This Friday, June 14, at Texas Star Trading Company, 174 Cypress St., I will be signing books from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. I hope if you’re downtown you’ll stop by and thumb through the pages to see if at least one of the 54 rhymes resonates with what you know to be true. If so, I would be sincerely honored if you would choose to share a copy with the Littles in your life.
