AAC to Hear Report on Romanian Orphanage

Kristen Harris, mission co-worker at NOROC (New Opportunities for Romanian Orphaned Children) will be guest speaker for the May meeting of the Abilene Association of Congregations.

The public is invited to the meeting, which will begin with lunch at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, at Brook Hollow Christian Church, 4606 S. 14th St.The church is located on the east end of Woodhaven Shopping Center, home of Hobby Lobby. A $3 donation is requested for lunch. The meeting will end by 1 p.m.

Harris, an ordained Presbyterian minister, splits her time between Romania and Abilene. At NOROC, located in Tulcea, Romania, Harris assists with programming and supports the Romanian staff, using her skills im photography and videography. Back home, she shares the story of NOROC with people in the Palo Duro Presbytery, which includes her home church, First Central Presbyterian Church. 

NOROC was started by FCPC members Fred and Carolyn White in 1997. In addition to caring for Romanian orphans, NOROC has been assisting with relocation of Ukrainian refugees who fled to Romania after Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.
