You’re Invited to Abilene Interfaith Council Meeting
The Abilene Interfaith Council kicks off its new year of programming with a meeting set for 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, in the Furr Welcome Center at McMurry University.
All are invited to hear from Abilenians who attended the Parliament of the World’s Religions in Chicago in August. Title of the program is “Interfaith Engagement: Respect, Relationships, and Cooperation.” Seven Abilenians from the Interfatih Council and McMurry University attended the Parliament. Representing Abilene were Dr. Angela Nicolini Starr, Linda Goolsbee, Dr. Mark Waters, The Rev. Dr. Philip LeMasters, the Rev. Dr. Russell Miller, Anthony Avina, and Tyler Gurley. Some presented papers and others were members of a panel discussion, “Navigating Obstacles: Interfaith Work in the Buckle of the Bible Belt.”
An announcement of the meeting contains these words of welcome:
“You won’t want to miss what they learned and how we can continue to break bread with our neighbors!”
